Applications are invited for the role of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) Researcher within Norfolk OCC.

The post holder will be responsible for providing essential support for the effective deployment of Police resources in relation to ANPR intelligence.

The successful candidate will have good communication skills, experience of dealing with time critical situations and be able to assess information quickly, based on Force guidelines.


It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively all levels both within the forces and with outside agencies
  • Good keyboard skills and computer literacy with the ability to learn new systems
  • Experience of successfully dealing with time critical situations
  • Ability to assess information using established systems and guidelines
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads
  • Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision and also as part of a wider team
  • Ability to work a shift pattern including evenings weekends and Bank Holidays
  • Ability to research and critically assess information gathered from a wide variety of sources and formulate the findings within a suitable product


It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:

  • Knowledge of legislation and national standards relating to ANPR
  • Experience working in an operational policing environment


The post holder will be required to work a shift pattern, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.  This post is offered on a permanent basis.

Consideration will be given to whether the post can be delivered on either a part time or job share basis, in line with the organisational requirements of this role.
