Boy, 12, arrested in Norwich stabbing investigation

Detectives investigating an attempted robbery in which a 13-year-old was stabbed in Norwich have arrested a 12-year-old boy.

The boy was arrested in Norwich this morning by officers and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

The boy, arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault GBH, has been released on bail until 8 December while enquiries continue.

Two other boys, aged 14 and 16, arrested last week also remain on police bail. 

The incident happened in an alleyway near Aldi in Larkman Lane at about 5.40pm on Wednesday (13 November 2019).

Suspect(s) approached the victim and demanded money and during the incident the boy suffered a stab wound to the back.

He was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for treatment for a non-life-threatening injury and was discharged later that night. Nothing was stolen and the people involved are thought to be known to one another.  

Police are still keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has information concerning those involved. Witnesses should contact Norwich CID on 101 quoting incident number 324 of 13 November 2019.

Teens bailed in attempted robbery and stabbing investigation 

Two teenagers arrested in connection with an attempted robbery in which a 13-year-old was stabbed have been released on bail.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident which happened in an alleyway near Aldi in Larkman Lane at about 5.40pm on Wednesday (13 November 2019).

Suspect(s) approached the victim and demanded money and during the incident the boy suffered a stab wound to the back.

Norwich attempted robbery arrests 

Detectives investigating an attempted robbery and stabbing in Norwich yesterday (Wednesday 13 November 2019) have arrested a second person.

It happened at about 5.40pm in an alleyway near Aldi in Larkman Lane when suspect(s) approached the victim, a teenage boy, and demanded money.

During the incident the boy suffered a stab wound to his back and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for treatment before being discharged later last night.

Nothing was stolen and the people involved are thought to be known to one another.

Two teenage boys, aged 14 and 16, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and assault GBH and remain in custody at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre where they will be questioned.

Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Local Policing Commander, Chief Inspector Sonia Humphreys said: "The consequences of knife crime can be severe, even fatal, which is why we take any offences involving knives extremely seriously.

"We have a number of measures in place to tackle knife crime and to educate young people about the dangers but the community have a role in this too.

"We all have a part to play in keeping communities safe so if you know or suspect that someone is carrying a knife, report it.

"The people involved in this incident are all thought to be under the age of 17 and are likely to be still living at home. I would therefore urge parents not to overlook any changes in their child’s behaviour, which could be considered out of character. I would also encourage young people who may have concerns about their friends to share this information with parents, teachers or the police; there are many ways in which we can help and information will be dealt with in the strictest of confidence.”

Police investigate attempted robbery in Norwich 

Police are investigating an attempted robbery in Norwich this evening (Wednesday 13 November 2019) in which a teenager was stabbed.

The incident happened at about 5.40pm today (Wednesday 13 November 2019) in an alleyway near Aldi in Larkman Lane.

The victim and suspects are believed to be known to each other.

The victim, a boy in his teens, sustained a stab wound to his back in the incident and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. He has since been discharged from hospital. Nothing was stolen.

A 14 year old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and assault and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. He remains in custody.

A police cordon was put in place at the scene but has since been removed.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything or witnessed any suspicious activity in the area.
