Three more charged in connection with Thetford murder

Three further people have been charged in connection with the murder of a man in Thetford in October.

David Lawal suffered fatal stab wounds following an incident on the A134 Brandon Road in the town on the evening of Thursday 3 October 2019.

Lisa Desousa, aged 21, of Nightingale Road, Greater London, has been charged with one count of murder and one count of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. She will appear at Norwich Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning (Saturday 25 January 2020).

Claudia Annius, aged 20, of Bunyan Road, Kempston, near Bedford, has been charged with one count of assisting an offender and one count of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

A 17 year old girl from the Thetford area has been charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

Both Annius and the 17 year old girl have been bailed to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on Friday 21 February 2020.

In addition, no further action will be taken against a 25-year-old woman from the Thetford area who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Thetford murder investigation - four people charged

Officers were on patrol on the A134 Brandon Road in Thetford shortly after 7pm on Thursday 3 October when they discovered members of the public providing first aid to a man who had received stab wounds.

Sadly, despite the best efforts of members of the public, police officers and the East of England Ambulance Service, the man – later identified as 25-year-old David Lawal - was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 8pm.

A Home Office post mortem examination concluded Mr Lawal died from a single stab wound to the neck and upper chest.

Detectives from the Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team have been working on a number of lines of enquiry to build a comprehensive picture of what has happened in the hours leading up to the murder.

As a result of their investigation:

Elie Saba, age 33, of Goddards Way, Ilford, has been charged with one count of murder and conspiracy to supply class A drugs. He remains in police custody, due to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court tomorrow (Friday 20 December 2019).

Three 17-year-old males from Greater London have each been charged with one count of murder and conspiracy to supply class A drugs, remaining in police custody; due to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court tomorrow (Friday 20 December 2019).

A 21-year-old woman, of Greater London, has been released on police bail, after being arrested on suspicion of murder, and conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

A 17-year-old girl from Thetford has been released on police bail, after being arrested on suspicion of murder, and conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

A 20-year-old woman from Bedfordshire has been released on police bail, after being arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, and conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

A 25-year-old woman from the Thetford area and a 22-year-old man from Haverhill, who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, remain under investigation. Enquiries continue.

A 42-year-old from Norwich and a 23-year-old from Haverhill arrested last month on suspicion of assisting an offender have been told no further action will be taken by police.

In addition, no further action will be taken against a man in his 60s from Thetford who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
