Key Facts

  • The Acle neighbourhood encompasses 12 parishes around the market town of Acle in Broadland. The River Yare sets the boundary to the south, with Halvergate marshes to the east, River Bure to the north and the urban developments of Norwich to the west. 
  • The Acle neighbourhood has a resident population of around 20,000. The area attracts tens of thousands of visitors to its nature reserves, pretty villages, broads and rivers. Agriculture and tourism provides employment opportunities in this area. 
  • The Norfolk and Suffolk Broads have 'National Parks' status. This means the area attracts holidaymakers from all over the world for activities such as sailing, cruising, walking, angling, bird watching and staying in holiday homes. The main holiday period is from April into September.
